Employment Law
Mr. Baker routinely represents individuals who have been wrongfully terminated due to their age, gender, race or pregnancy. Termination of an employee on these grounds is unlawful under both state and federal law. Mr. Baker also represents individuals who have been wrongfully discharged under various state statutes which prohibit the termination of whistle blowers.
Professional Licensure
Mr. Baker has extensive experience in representing registered nurses and vocational nurses with pending licensure disputes before the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. This representation ranges from resolution of matters on an informal basis through the entry of an agreed order, to contested matters before the State Office of Administrative Hearings. Mr. Baker also has experience in representing other licensed professionals in matters pending before their licensing boards.
Personal Injury
Mr. Baker represents individuals who have been injured by the negligent acts of other persons or companies. These types of suits include industrial accidents, trucking accidents, automobile accidents, motorcycle accidents, defective products, premises liability, dog bites, civil assault, and cases arising out of other intentional misconduct or negligence.
Consumer Protection
Mr. Baker represents individuals and businesses which have been harmed as a result of deceptive business practices or through the purchase of faulty merchandise. Many of these claims may be brought pursuant to the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Other theories available to injured consumers include fraud, breach of contract, and other types of misrepresentation claims.
Business and Commercial Law
Mr. Baker provides a wide range of services to business clients, including assistance with a range of contract, employment, and operational disputes. The services provided by Mr. Baker include drafting and negotiation of business agreements, as well as litigating those agreements over which a dispute has arisen.
